Dr. Michael Sheinis grew up in South Florida as the son of a practicing orthodontist. While he spent many years watching his father transform smiles, he eventually chose to follow in his footsteps. After attending Tulane University in New Orleans and earning his bachelor’s degree in science, he received his dental education at the University of Maryland. Dr. Sheinis graduated from dental school with high honors and received numerous awards, after which he went directly into an orthodontic residency at Stony Brook University in New York. While training to become an orthodontist, Dr. Sheinis carried out extensive research on impacted canines and their subsequent side effects as seen with 3-dimensional imaging. Due to the significance of his research, the work was ultimately published in a well-known orthodontic journal.
He is a certified board eligible orthodontist with a commitment to staying current in his field. Dr. Sheinis regularly attends continuing education lectures and seminars to keep up with all the new technology and techniques that are constantly becoming available to orthodontists. As well as staying on top of the most recent research in his field, he is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, as well as the Northeastern Society of Orthodontists.
Dr. Sheinis and his wife Lauren currently live in Manhattan with their young son Cooper. They enjoy spending time at all of the wonderful parks and museums NYC has to offer, as well as just spending time together with their family. Dr. Sheinis is dedicated to helping his patients of all ages achieve and maintain a beautiful, healthy smile.
